Since it’s almost Valentine’s Day, I decided to make a countdown of my favorite moments of love, with quotes and movie clips as a starting point. There would be one released every other day until the 14th of February. I hope you enjoy.

DAY 1: The measure of love is to love without measure

I start with this movie clip towards the end of one of my favorite films “Love of Siam”.

The story revolves around the love shared between two young men separated by fate only to find each other again. However the story also shows more than just gay relationships. It also tackles some form of “relationship for show”, unrequited love, family relationships, and tough love. In a way, it delves more into the different human conditions of love.

One of the most complicated of these is the family dynamics between Tong, his alcoholic father, controlling mother, and the girl (named June) his mother hires to pretend to be his “missing” sister, named Tang . In the end June/Tang decides to leave the family to pursue greener pastures, but leaves behind some notes of her realizations with the family.

We love so much that we end up hurting each other, but we can all agree that there is no such thing as “too much love”.
