For those of you are realizing just now, after being to Paris or Rome or Madrid, that our country is beautiful, yes, it is. And yes, we have a lot of interesting places.
Sagada is one of those places – right on the backpacker trail (the so-called banana pancake trail) and offers a lot to the traveler (local or foreign) in terms of natural wonders, opportunities for adventure or even simply for that laid back “in the country” type of feeling.
Here, I’d like to showcase some photos I took during my trip there. Photos which capture the spirit of the place and which hopefully will entice others to explore and see for themselves how beautiful our country truly is.
I found my self forgetting the present in the embrace of the past.
There was a time when I was a grad student when I just had to stop and let go. I found my self one night in Vigan. The trip was unplanned.
Vigan is 404 kilometers north of Manila. It was an Asian trading post before the Spaniards came. It then became the capital of the encomienda of Juan de Salcedo in the 16th century. Hence, the mixture of Oriental and Spanish influences in its architecture.
