Ang pinakamahirap hanapin, bagoong.

Where is the nearest supermarket I could buy Asian products?

This is  one of the first questions we asked when we moved to Europe.

We didn’t know that there is Aling Ionne’s, a Filipino sari-sari store in the small city that we are living. The thing is, we discovered it near the end of our stay.

What could you get in Aling Ionne’s store?

The usual – Boy Bawang, Skyflakes, Ligo sardines, Datu puti products to the more difficult to find patis and guisadong bagoong.

The not so usual – San Miguel and Red horse beer, traditional Laing, to Choc-Nut and Goldilocks polvoron to daing na boneless bangus (their best seller) and tocino.

When I went to their store, Ate Ionne offered me some microwaveable pandesal. Too bad we didn’t have a microwave oven.

They also sell MagicSing and song chips.

For more products, please go to their webshop.

You don’t need to visit Leiden because they sell online and they will send the package via PostNL (used to be TNT Post NL). However, I think they only deliver within the Netherlands. (You might want to ask if they deliver outside NL). Delivery is 6.75 Euros for 0 to 10 kgs and 12.20 Euros for upto 30 kgs. Click here to go to their webshop..

But if you want to visit them, I think you have to schedule ahead and they only entertain after office hours. Here is the map of her store.

Filipijnse Toko, Witte Singel 102, Leiden
The Netherlands

Since Aling Ionne’s store is actually limited to Filipino products, you could order other Asian products online at the Amazing Oriental webshop, the largest Asian supermarket chain in the Netherlands.

So that’s it. Is there an Asian supermarket near your place? Care to share?

By the way, Ate Ionne also sells walis tambo.
